There is jubilation in BJP camp regarding the supposed SIT report giving clean chit to Narendra Modi in Gulburg Society massacre case in 2002. It is not known as to how the report was leaked when the said report is submitted in closed envelope.
When its authenticity is in question, how one can say Modi has been given a clean chit? Even if the clean chit is given by SIT, can it be taken as a verdict? Only the previous day Modi’s government has been castigated by the High Court for its negligence in the aftermath of 2002 riot. Therefore, the jubilation may be short lived. Unfortunately, there is an insinuation regarding SIT head Raghavan’s impartiality.
While courts depend upon clinching evidences, the general public believes in circumstantial evidences. To some extent, both are right. Therefore, irrespective of what happens in the courts, the general public believes that Modi is guilty of having abetted the 2002 Ahmedabad riot.
