Indian men’s doubles team and mixed doubles team stands a good chance of winning the final and have the much needed confidence before the London Olympics despite hiccups about team selection, allegation and counter-allegations by Indian tennis players.
Ivan Lendl once said after losing out at Wimbledon that ‘Grass is for cows’. The same can be said when a player like Pete Sampras losing out at clay court repeatedly uttering that ‘Clay is for artisans making potteries.
In the year 1986, because of years missed during two World Wars, it reached its its 100th year of Championship.
Wimbledon is unique with hard fast matches in between rain and shine. The ball boys and girls move here and there to pick the ball in a set order.
In between points they will have to provide towel to the players to swipe off the sweat. Initially, the ball boys came to existence when wealthy sportsman hired boys for retrieving balls in a tennis court. Now it has become a ritual and the boys and girls perform their duties in most meticulous way. And when there is rain they used to help the staff to put the cover in proper place.
