First you eat meat, then meat eats you: Maneka Gandhi
New Delhi: Union Minister Maneka Gandhi made a pitch for vegetarianism, saying humans are natural vegetarians and meat consumption harms them. The women and child development minister was speaking at the launch of a film 'The Evidence-Meat Kills', directed by Mayank Jain, that scientifically explores the effects of meat consumption on human body. Studies done over the last three decades have shown, with empirical data, that meat is bad for human body, Maneka said. "Everything about every part and organ of the human body is vegetarian. When we put an alien substance like meat into the human body, we become prone to diseases," she said.

Fuel prices may come down by Diwali: Pradhan
Amritsar: Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said today that fuel prices may come down by Diwali, which falls (rpt) falls next month. The comments come amid criticism by opposition parties of a sharp rise in oil prices after the daily rate revision mechanism was introduced by the government recently. "Fuel prices may come down by Diwali festival," said the minister who was on a brief visit here.

Some Rohingyas found with links to ISI, ISIS: MHA
New Delhi:
Some Rohingyas have been found with links to Pakistan's ISI, the Islamic State terror group and extremist outfits targeting India, the Centre said today, while making it clear that it was bound to take action against the illegal migrants as per the law. The Union home ministry said that the influx of the Rohingyas started in 2012-13 and the involvement of some of these illegal migrants has been noticed in criminal activities, including fraudulent and illegally obtaining Indian identification documents and fake currency etc.

Officer who probed Gujarat riot cases named NIA chief
New Delhi: Senior IPS officer Y C Modi, who was part of the Supreme Court-appointed Special Investigation Team that probed the 2002 Gujarat riot cases, was today named chief of the National Investigation Agency. The federal probe agency is tasked with probing terrorism and terror-financing related cases.
