DP ministers quit, to remain in NDA
Ashok Gajapathi Raju and Y S Chowdary, two TDP ministers in the BJP-led NDA government, today submitted their resignations to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.   Raju later told reporters that his party will continue to part of the ruling alliance.   Their resignations came a day after TDP chief and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu announced that the party's ministers will quit the central government in protest against its refusal to grant special category status to the state.  Chowdary said the issue of special category status was very emotive for the state but the Centre did not address it and added that even the special package was not adequate.

Activists march in Delhi on Women's Day
Activists from NGOs and mass organisations working on gender issues today staged a march in the heart of the national capital to mark International Women's Day. Led by the All India Democratic Women's Association (AIDWA), the groups walked to Parliament Street from Mandi House. "We have come together to celebrate our solidarity and our resistance to the brazen patriarchal, casteist, communal and regressive forces that are operating with utter impunity in the country," an activist said, addressing a public meeting at Jantar Mantar.

No scheme to provide houses to differently abled below poverty line: Government
The Centre has not formulated any scheme to provide houses to differently abled persons living below poverty line in the country, Minister of State for Rural Development, Ram Kripal Yadav informed Lok Sabha today. "The Union government has not formulated any scheme to provide houses to the differently abled persons living below poverty line in the country," Yadav said in response to a written question in Lok Sabha.
    
Take strong action against those vandalising statues: Abdullah to govt

Amid a spate of incidents targeting statues and busts of known figures across the country, National Conference president Farooq Abdullah today asked the government to take stern action against those indulging in such acts. The statues of Russian communist icon Vladimir Illyich Lenin and rationalist leader from Tamil Nadu EV Ramasamy, popularly known as Periyar, were damaged in Tripura and Tamil Nadu respectively earlier this week. A statue of Dalit icon B R Ambedkar was also vandalised.
