A dome with a view!
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation is the most discussed not only because it is Asia's richest civic body, but also because of its Grade II - A Heritage structure. The 'Old Building' as it is also known has recently completed 125 years since its construction in 1865.

At 255 feet, the BMC building is a good 20 feet higher than its neighbouring CSMT building and offers a stunning view of Mumbai from its dome. The architect of the building Fredrick William Stevens, built this Gothic structure with minute details. Each column of this building has a unique design which shows how much the architect loved his work. The building is the pride of Mumbai just like the Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus which is right opposite the BMC building.

The prime architectural feature is the central dome that rises to a height of 71.5 meters. The building was also technically well versed back in those times. An electric rod is fixed right atop the dome of the building to absorb the electricity in case of thundering or lightening. The Afternoon Despatch & Courier Photographer Azad Shrivastav captures the beautiful details of this building from within.
