Let there be light!
As the city prepares for Diwali, hectic signs of the festive season keeps opping up everywhere. Still low-key perhaps, but it has been our experience that the tempo lifts a week before the actual festival. So come next Tuesday, which is Dhanteras, Mumbaikars and its residents in suburbs like Thane, Kalyan and Badlapur will make a beeline to the jewelery stores across the city, there to make at least a pretense of buying something in gold or silver!Streets and shops across the city are teeming with brisk sales of firecrackers, sweets, decorative items and even colours for preparing ‘Rangolis’. However, this
time, Mumbaikars have slowly started switching to the ecofriendly ways of celebrating the festival with less of sound and more of lights. The coming week
beginning from today, we might as well enjoy ourselves in anticipation of the lights, the sounds, the feeling of celebration.
