The presence of gadgets in the vicinity of your bedroom could wreak havoc with your health and peace of mind, writes Prerna Pandey
If, you have arranged your chairs, sofa, bed, wardrobe and every other furniture you can think of in accordance with Feng Shui but still haven’t been able to achieve the desired effect, it’s probably because of your electronic gadgets.
Here’s how you can use Feng Shui and organise your gadgets at home to be able to derive the optimum effect of the ancient Chinese science.
Not many know, even electronic gadgets emit energies that can hamper the positive energies in and around your home. So, it is very necessary that you take gadgets into consideration while arranging your home furniture in accordance with Feng Shui. If arranged smartly, you will be able to counter the negative energies emitted by your gadgets, with positive energies.
Today it is almost impossible to imagine not having a computer or a television set in your bedroom if not both.
Either you work on your computer till you feel sleepy or tire yourself to crash out by watching TV every night.
It’s a routine in most households. But, if you want your house to be perfect according to Feng Shui, then it is best to get rid of everything electronic from your bedroom.
“Television is the only source of entertainment I have at home. I work all day and have to cook after I come home after which I straight go to my bedroom to rest.
“I rarely get to spend some quality time during weekdays so, with my husband, I watch TV before going off to sleep,” says assistant interior designer Anushka Gujral.
Apart from the television being a popular source of entertainment in the bedroom, a computer is another gadget that you can find in one’s bedroom.
“My house is not so big and I need to have a home office for my business. So, because of lack of space, I have converted my bedroom into home-office-cum-bedroom,” says garment trader Jayant Shah.
So, for people who can’t avoid keeping a computer in their bedroom or who cannot do without a television before going to sleep, there are certain things you should keep in mind if you keep gadgets in room.
If you have a computer in your bedroom it is better to have its screen covered when you go to sleep.
Avoid keeping a computer in such a way that it faces the bed. And, if you watch TV before going to sleep, make sure to put it off so that it doesn’t stay on all through the night.
Since new flat screen TVs are less reflective/have less mirror-like quality (according to Feng Shui, it is bad to have a mirror facing your bed), they are preferred over Box TV sets.
Avoid keeping a digital alarm clock instead, opt for a mechanical one.
*A bedroom is a place where you rest and it should have calming and soothing energies rather than create a tension-filled environment.
Even in a living room, if it is not possible to free it of gadgets, it is best to keep the gadgets covered when not in use. This way, you can reduce the energy emitting from these gadgets.
If possible, keep a separate room for all the gadgets like an entertainment room.
This way, you will be able to contain the energies emitting from the gadget in one room and unlike the living room where you will have gadgets even though you don’t use them, you can leave your entertainment room whenever you want to.
So, keep your house as less cluttered with electronic goods as possible and it will be wiser to contain most of the electronics in one room rather than spreading them all over the house.
