Solo moves should be avoided

The Indian team has put on a good show in their first two opening matches of the Olympic qualifiers which is a good sign for the rest of the tournament. They matched their skill with good pace but were inept in converting penalty corners. The second match saw them as a cohesive unite but they resorted to the age old habit of attempting solo runs and trying to score goals on their own – an area Indian coach Michael Nobbs will have to work on. The members will have to avoid individual gamesmanship as we enter the crucial stages of the tournament.
Going back to the India match with Italy, I knew Sandeep Singh would come good, and the second minute goal. The match against Italy was possibly a walk through but post this tie, the Indian team wouldn’t find things so easy to come as they take on some better hockey playing nations in the qualifiers and they should be careful in their approach.
