Top Indian cyclists to take part in Mumbai Cyclothon

Mumbai: The national road cyclists, along with thousands of amateurs, are to be seen in action at the Saksham Cyclothon which is to be held on the city's roads on February 25.

The cyclothon is an initiative of the Petroleum Conservation Research Association (PCRA), under the aegis of the Union Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas along with Oil and Gas Public Sector Units to make the citizens aware of the importance of conservation and effective utilisation of petroleum products.

Singh said that Rs 1 lakh was the first prize for men and Rs 75,000 for women and a total of 20-22 national road cycling campers would take part in the races for elite men and women cyclists after the conclusion of the Asian Road Championship in Myanmar scheduled from February 8-12.

Reuben fine hat-trick in J.M.J Sports Club’s win
Striker Reuben Fernandes showed good scoring form and netted a fine hat-trick which was the highlight of J.M.J. Sports Club’s emphatic 6-0 win against Mumbai Municipal Corporation (MMC) SC in a Second Division match of the MDFA League played at the St. Xavier’s Ground, Parel.
The young dashing forward Reuben made his intention clear from the start by netting the first goal in the very fourth minute. Later he scored two more goals, in the 44th and 63rdminutes to complete his feat. The others who chipped by scoring a goal each were Elvin Fernandes (23rd min), Melvin Barboza (26th min) and Daniel Fernandes (50th min).

All round show by Alsaad in Rizvi’s 3rd win
A fine allround show by Alsaad Shaikh helped Rizvi Sports Club overcome Bhosale Cricket Academy by 138 runs to record their third win in the B4S (Brain-4-Sports)- MCC Pro-40 double leg League, played at Oval Maidan. It was Rizvi’s third win in the league.
Batting first, Rizvi batsmen batted aggressively to score 252 with Alsaad top-scoring with 68, while Vaibhav Kalankar contributed 52. In reply, Bhosale CA were bundled out for 114 with Siddhant Desai’s 47 being the only bright spot in their innings. Alsaad (3/11), Aman Maniyar (3/30), and Pratik Kadam sharing the bowling honours.

Soccer Academy downs Mumbai Strikers
Mumbai: The Soccer Academy (TSA) scored a close 3-2 win against Mumbai Strikers in a well-contested boys’ under-12 league match of the WIFA - Mumbai City Development Centre Baby League. Strikers Dhanyal Gabajiw, Archit Gautam and Shlok Kulkarni, all scored a goal each for TSA, while Anish Joshi netted both the goals for Mumbai Strikers. In another match, Harsh Kadam’s double strikes enabled Play On Soccer Club overcome The Football Academy (TFA) by a narrow 2-1 margin. Nathan Baretto scored the lone goal for the losers.
