Stunningly charming TV actress Suhasi Dhami last seen as ‘Parvati’ in the popular mytho  TV show ‘Devon Ke Dev Mahadev’  ( 2014),  will stage her dramatic comeback in the new Zee TV daily soap titled ’Aap Ke Aa Jaane Se’. The new show goes on air from Monday 15th January from Mon to Fri in the 10.30 pm Zee TV slot.  It’s a maverick bold romantic thriller that deals with the socially taboo theme of  a pretty widow’s  (age 42 years) remarriage with a much-younger boy ( age 24 years). While Suhasi plays the ‘widow Vedika’, the flamboyant young guy’s character ‘Saahil’ is played by the dashing actor Karan Jotwani.  Afternoon D & C connected exclusively with the slim‘n’trim  Suhasi on her new innings, after her brief sabbatical

So what does one expect to watch in ‘Aap Ke Aa Jane Se’ ?
It’s an unconventional yet thought-provoking captivating romance that transcends the barriers of age, life stages and background. It dares to question the social restriction—do we need a license to fall in love? Do we need  external approval from society  to express our genuine feelings for the person whom we genuinely care for.

What was exciting about your character Vedika that you grabbed it ?
Unlike the various TV characters that I have played in the past, I will get to portray a variety of restrained emotions and sentiments in my challenging role which has abundant scope for performance. Because I am shown in love with a much younger guy . Also my character plays a mother, a ‘single’ parent of a 15 year old smart girl. Although I am much younger (29 years)  in real life, and the script requires a relatively ‘de-glam’ mature look ‘bun’ hair-style, in the show to go with my widow and teacher’s 42 year old character, I have absolutely no hang-ups.

But doesn’t this convey a misleading social message?
No, not at all. Because the treatment of my character is sensitive and dignified. Initially, I  feel that ‘Saahil’ is only infatuated with me and I don’t get carried away at all by his romantic overtures. It’s only when I am absolutely convinced after a series of serious wooing attempts, that I finally give in. Similarly, my young daughter is also initially not at all in favour of my new alliance. After all, it’s a progressive theme of widows  finding a suitable companion and re-settling in life.

But doesn’t the huge age difference (of 18 years) result in incompatibility ?
Not, if the spouses are fine-tuned to the same wave-length and are able to ‘adjust’  to each other’s temperament and tantrums (laughs). In fact my real-life dance teacher happily married her much-younger student after she parted ways with her husband.

Please continue….
In our TV  show, my maturity balances and regulates his youthful flamboyance and erratic nature. Just like the iconic song ‘Pyar kiya toh darna kya’  from ‘Mughal-e-Azam’ , both ‘Vedika’ and ‘Sahil’ will go all out to conquer the social stigma and taboos with their true mutual intense love.

Off-screen, which romantic cinematic saga has been your favourite?
Quite a few of them, but the one that has fascinated me most is SRK-Kajol’s  iconic  movie ‘D D L J ’, which I have watched so many times. In the promotional banners of our TV show, ‘AKAJS’ , ‘Saahil’ has opened his arms wide open,  like SRK does in ‘D D L J’ ( smiles with a blush).
