Don't fall in love - it's less hurtful that way: Swarda Thigale

Charming  model-actress Swarda Thigale is a popular face on the telly screen thanks to the spunky, romantic character of a dedicated doctor (Dr Sanchi) in the ongoing popular TV show on Colors titled 'Savitri Devi College and Hospital', produced by Rashmi Sharma. With a crazy obsession for shoes – she has a huge collection – Swarda happens to be a trained Salsa and Kathak dancer. Basically shy and an introvert by nature, the agile actress gradually opens up, once she becomes pally. Afternoon D&C connected with Swarda for a lively chat. Excerpts:

Your TV Show Savitri Devi College has successfully completed over a year. How has your journey as Dr Sanchi been... from an intern to the Dean?
It's one hell of a roller-coaster ride. I had lots of fun, no doubt, and learnt so many different things technically. The escalation of  Dr Sanchi to the Dean was difficult and challenging because playing a doctor's character is not at all easy. In reality, it takes years to become an actual doctor. On-screen we're expected to become one in just a day.

Your character Sanchi has gone through a turbulent love-life and marriage phase, has this also taught you lessons for real life?
Yes, definitely! And that is do not fall in love! It’s less hurtful that way (laughs).  Jokes apart, my character sure is mentally exhausting for me .  Although I’m strong physically, if mentally disturbed, it’s an alarm to get away from anything that drains me out or hurts me, as soon as possible. But I know for a fact that you got to deal with it and not run away from it. And the base line always  is ‘follow your heart but do whatever is right’.

Share your experience working with two senior Bollywood stalwarts – Shilpa Shirodkar (as your mother)  and Mohan Kapoor – as your co-stars?
It's super-fun because they never made me feel like I am a learning student. I always looked up to them because they have earned it very gracefully. Whatever they are today, and I love both of them because they have amazing positive vibes and beautiful souls. I think I'm short of words to express my gratitude for having them as my dynamic co-actors. I really miss Shilpa-ma'am!

You have been a National-level swimmer; do you now get time to splash into the pool? How important is fitness for you since you love to work-outs?
It's a very important part of my day as I feel incomplete if I don't work out. It refreshes me from within. Now that I don't get to jump into the pool that often, I really miss swimming.

In your past previous Marathi TV show 'Maajhe Mann Tujhe Zaale', you played a young college girl madly in love with a much older college professor. In reality, do you feel age difference does not really matter in true love?
Yes. Actually, the age gap doesn't matter when it comes to true love. I think it's just a number. Conversely, it may also happen between a young guy and a much older lady. So it just depends on the intensity of wanting to hold each other's hand and have each other's emotional backing, no matter what.

Which reality TV show is on your secret wish-list ?
The show 'Jhalak Dikhla Jaa', because dance is my passion. I would love to live my passion on the 'Jhalak…' stage and feel blessed for my entire life.

If you get a Bollywood movie break, who would ideally be your dream hero?
Shahrukh Khan! Because he is definitely an ideal hero with no age bar!
