Noted actress Harshada Khanvilkar, has acted in various TV soaps and many plays. Her stint in the Television field started early in 1998, through a soap titled 'Dard', that was aired on Doordarshan. Having essayed multiple versatile roles in TV and films, she is now hosting a new Marathi TV fun show 'Navra Asaava Tar Asaa', being telecast on Colors Marathi from Monday to Saturday at 6.30 pm. She spoke exclusively to ADC. Excerpts:

What is the concept of this new TV show?
A lady never feels more loved than when her man gets her something special. She feels pampered and cared for. It’s not much about the price of the thing, but the gesture behind it. This show will make wives all over Maharashtra feel similarly pampered and loved!

So is this a one more TV show for 'Home Ministers'?
Hmm, in a way, Yes. But this show is different. In this show the couples of all ages participate. It has men competing among themselves to win a prize for their ladies. The program involves not just the competition between the men, but I also have a nice chat with the participating couples and get to know more about their lives and themselves.

What about your passion for costumes?
Basically I also do costume designing for my production house. I like saris of different designs and I also like ornaments. I watch different movies including South Indian movies. As such I will try to wear different type of colorful saris in this soap.

You have always been playing different type of roles in TV soaps up till now. But now you are ‘hosting’ the show? How does it feel?
I have been essaying the role of 'Akka Saheb' in 'Pudhcha Paaul' (Star Pravah), for the last 6 years. But in this show I am presenting myself as Harshada Khanvilkar. This show is altogether different challenge for me. There is no script. I have to be prepared to meet new people and face new situation every day. I have to travel a lot. This assignment is very exciting compared to the roles I essayed in TV soaps earlier.

You have acted in many TV serials including 'Abhalmaya', 'Kalat Nakalat', 'Damini' and 'Pudhacha Paul'. Among these, which serials you liked the most?
'Damini' gave me my recognition. Besides this, 'Pudhcha Paaul' was yet another TV serial which was remarkable in my career. In that serial my character of Akka Saheb was such that off-screen, even the people double my age used to bow and pay me respect. That was when I realized how important was that character.

Who is your idol?
I consider my Father as my idol. Basically I feel that the near and dear ones are our idols who care for us and teach us many things.

Do you remember any remarkable incident in your career?
There are many such incidents. But I distinctly remember one incident. A few years back I lost my father. The situation was such that I had to go for shooting. As such with a heavy heart I participated in the shoot very next day. I believe in facing any situation come what may.

Do you have any dream assignment which you wish to perform ?
Besides acting, I have produced the Marathi TV soap ‘Bedhund Manachya Lahari’. Then I co-produced ‘Kya Baat Hai’ for Zee Marathi. In future I hope to produce and act in some good movie or a play. As for the roles are concerned I feel that they should be strong enough to make artiste to deliver his or her best.
