Tall, svelte, dusky and vivacious model-actress Shraddha Musale, has completed a decade of playing the savvy forensic expert Dr Tarika, in the popular crime-thriller Sony TV series ‘C.I.D’ and is still going strong. Off-screen, she is happily married to management professional Deepak Tomar. In an exclusive interview with The Aftternoon D&C, the outspoken Shraddha, tossing her lustrous curly tresses, candidly shares little known facts about herself. Over to the mesmerizing Musale:

‘Kuchh toh gadbad hai’—Even after 10 years , you are so attached to your ‘CID’ TV show, although there is no further job promotion?
(laughs)  Oh yeah—‘sentimental’ gadbad zaroor hai. The entire 'C.I.D' team crew and cast are like my extended family including Shivaji Satam-sir, Dayanand Shetty, Aditya Srivastava,  Narendra Gupta and the off-screen top boss B. P. Singh sir and I share a close bonding with all of them. Besides, I really enjoy playing my screen-character.

Isn’t it true that you never dreamt of becoming an actress?
Yes, bilkul sahi, I never even aspired to get into acting. During my school and early college days, I was almost like the proverbial ‘black sheep’. Honestly speaking, I originally wanted to make a career in ‘hospitality’ and I have also worked there.  But later, I realized that I was not cut out for that and then I qualified as a ‘Miss India’ finalist and I was the only finalist from Gujarat that year. That got me my Mumbai visa into ramp fashion modeling and I merited media attention because of my sensuous looks and good height. But, I realized that this was not what I wished to do all my life. So I drifted into acting in Hindi drama-plays. Then ‘C.I.D’ happened, and the rest as they say, is history.

Were you jittery when you first started shooting for ‘C.I.D’, a decade ago?
Of course. On day one I was nervous, I fumbled and I couldn’t deliver even a single line of my dialogues. The rest of the cast were all seasoned senior actors. Imagine, I had to give over a dozen ‘re-takes’ to get the perfect shots as there were several sheets of dialogues. In fact, I never thought I would be able to sustain. But,  gradually things fell in place. The proactive support and co-operation from all my senior co-stars helped to stabilize myself in the ‘C.I.D’ team. From a raw young diffident girl to a smart mature lady, my journey with 'C.I.D' has been very positively progressive.

Considering you love action, don’t you think you should have been ideally cast as a ‘tough-talking’ sleuth-officer who grills the suspects?
Hmmm, you are right, my secret dream is to play ‘Lady James Bond’ or maybe the desi version of ‘Wonder Woman’. Initially, I did presume I would be playing a tough 'C.I.D' cop detective. But, when they briefed me about my ‘unusual’ role, I was all the more excited. Although Dr Tarika is a forensic expert, she is a funky, style-icon who never wears a ‘lab-coat’. She even listens to trending music on her headphones. She is a fitness-freak and has a flair for fun.

There are whispers that you are playing the sultry ‘tribal-queen’ in this upcoming historical TV costume-drama called ‘Porus’, where you will indulge in martial arts, horse-riding and sword-fighting?
Hush, sorry. At this juncture I am not permitted to comment or divulge any details on this.

Which reality TV show would you love to be a part of?
Undoubtedly, it’s the ‘Fear Factor—Khatron Ke Khiladi’. My fans should also get to check me out in my brave ‘true colours’.
