Popular crime-thriller TV shows like ‘Crime Patrol’, ‘Savdhaan’ and ‘CID’ have consistently merited top TRPs. Not only do they have brutal shock-value but also enlighten viewers on the scheming ‘modus operandi’ in most of the crime cases. Now comes the news, that none other than the talented, savvy yet sensitive director Meghna Gulzar (of super-hit movie ‘Raazi’ fame) will soon be co-producing and directing an original digital series based on reality-case files of former city Police Commissioner, IPS Officer Rakesh Maria. It may be recalled that besides a large number of high-profile sensational cases, top-cop Maria was also given the responsibility of investigating the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks (2008)  and interrogated Ajmal Kasab — the only terrorist captured alive. Commented Maria, “It is exciting to re-live the journey. More than the nostalgia, it’s also a valuable opportunity to place before the people the extraordinary courageous work of the Mumbai Police when facing tough challenges and working against all odds.” Meanwhile the modest Meghna reacted, “Mr Rakesh Maria’s life-experiences and his prolific career in law-enforcement are a powerful lens to explore the chronology of crime and terror in our society.”
