How different is anchoring this show from other shows?
This show is different in the sense that it’s totally impromptu and not scripted like other reality shows. I have to keep up with the performance of the participants in the show.
What is the format of the show?
The show is going to be full of entertainment and music based show with celebrities like Vinod and Andrea Kambli. Sayaji and Alka Shinde, Rahul and Dimpy Mahajan, Manoj and Charu Joshi, Shweta Salve and Harpreet participating in the show. The husband-wife pair will be dancing, singing and telling jokes as part of the show.
Recently you are not seen on many shows or TV appearances.
Yes. I have to look after my two kids and husband and this takes a lot of time and TV shows take up a lot of time to shoot but a reality show like ‘Sangeet Khurchi’ doesn’t take much of my time and so I opt to do such shows.
You have hosted Hindi and Marathi shows. Is there any difference in hosting both shows?
Not much of a difference, but for a Hindi show the language needs to be refined and pure. Also Marathi shows take less time to shoot than Hindi shows.
You have any favorite anchors.
Yes. I admire Annu Kapoorji, Mona Singh, a lot and on the international level I love Oprah Winfrey..
How is it like working with Gajendra Singh, the producer and director of the show?
I have been working with Gajendrajee since my ‘Antakshari’ days but now he has branched out on his own with his own production company ‘Sai Baba Telefilms Ltd and it is a great experience to work with him.
What kind of shows do you like to watch?
I like to see dance and music reality shows like ‘Jhalak Dikhla Jaa’ and ‘DID Lil’ Masters’ and Marathi shows like ‘Oonch Mazha Jhoka’ and ‘Eka Lagnachi Doosri Gosht’. I also like to see international shows on Zee Cafe.
Are you doing any films?
Not right now because I am busy with my TV commitments and my family too.
After your successful first directorial venture ‘Rita’ are you planning any other film?
Yes. It’s still in the scripting stage and I will announce it as soon as the writing work is over.
On that note Renuka takes our leave.
