The latest show to be beamed on regional GEC(General Entertainment Channel) is ‘Devyani’ on Star Pravah, India ‘s fastest growing channel. ‘Devyani’ is the story of shy girl next door with whom the uncouth and belligerent Sangram, the rustic son of the village supremo falls in love with. We spoke to talented debutant Sangram Salvi who plays the  important character of Sangram .Here is what the gabfest went.

From the backwaters of Kolhapur to Mumbai must have been a tough journey?
Not really.I didn’t have to struggle much. I consider myself to be lucky to get a prime time lead character show on a numero uno channel like Star Pravah.I must thank Sharbani Deodhar, head honcho Star Pravah  madam for giving me the break.

Did you have to work on the character?
I didn’t have to because it’s close to my persona and the dialect spoken in the show is Kolhapuri which is my mother tongue.

How was it like working on the show?
Shivani Surve plays the lead ‘Devyani’ opposite me and we share a good vibing and the camaraderie on the sets is great With senior actors like Nagesh Bhosale ,it is a learning experience  The show is produced by Anuj Saxena’s Maverick Productions in association with Swapna Waghmare Joshi and DOP Sanjay Memane.

After a successful stint in the South, Anuj Saxena now enters the Marathi GEC Space with ‘Devyani’.

What is the gist of the show?

Devyani’ is the story of a young college going girl whose life witnesses a sea change as she enters the wedlock with her obsessive and uncouth lover Sangram Vikhe Patil played by me. While. The show changes course when Sangram falls head over heels with Devyani and is hell bent on winning her while Devyani’s marriage has been arranged with Dr Namit.. Nagesh Bhonsale will be seen playing the head of Vikhe Patil family, father of Sangram. It’s a great experience to work with Shivani Surve as we share perfect tuning.

What do you feel is USP of the show?

Devyani is a simple story of a girl whose life undergoes a huge transformation once she enters the phase of marriage. We are sure the audiences would establish a connect with Devyani and her will to overcome all difficulties.

Star Pravah’s constant efforts have been to depict various shades of human relationships in a different light. With Devyani, we touch upon the unbreakable bond of marriage. We hope our viewers will show a positive response to Devyani as they have been towards other fiction and nonfiction offerings.”

Any inspirations?
I dream of becoming an actor star like Naseeruddin Shah and working with director Rajkumar Hirani. That’s fair enough!
