Today, Siddharth Chandekar is a well-known name in Marathi serials, films and advertising. Born in a family of actors and a resident of Pune, this 20-year-old gained fame for his role as ‘Neel Agnihotri’ in the popular show ‘Agnihotra’ on STAR PRAVAH. In the new show ‘Kashala Udyachi Baat’, Siddharth, yet gain plays a stellar role. We spoke to Siddharth about his new assignment. This is what he says.
What is your role in ‘Kashala Udyachi Baat’?
I play an astronomy student – Aditya Mahashabde, who is an absentminded boy, but brilliant in studies. He is friendly with the chief protagonist in the show Revati Karkhanis played by Bhakti Desai, both belonging to a bunch of closely knit bunch of five, who are always together.
How is the new show different from ‘Agnihotra’?
Except for the director Satish Rajwade, everything on the show is different from the Agnihotra.
What about the cast?
The entire cast is well acquainted each other, as we know each other since our dog days. Hence we had a blast on the sets. Moreover, there is a lot that we learn from our senior like Mohan Joshi, Sharad Ponkshe, Avinash Narkar, etc.
Do you expect this show to become as successful as ‘Agnihotra’?
Well I hope so, because, ‘Kashala Udyachi Baat’ as compared to ‘Agnihotra’, is a highly matured subject and deals with future predictions and extra sensory perceptions, a realm hardly dealt by any Marathi show.
Your role in the film ‘Zhenda’ was much appreciated. Any future rendezvous?
I want to do good films. I am just 20 and I have a long way to go. I am waiting for the right opportunity, for which I’m ready to wait.
Any specific directors you would like to work with?
Yes, Rajeev Patil in particular.
