'Go, Go, Go 'Go-Win-Da' prize money in the 'gyaan aur anumaan ka adbhut khel' called 'Kaun Banega Crorepati - Season 10'. The much awaited 'KBC' quiz show will start airing on the auspicious occasion of Krishna Janmashtami on September 3 at 9.00 pm, Monday-Friday on Sony TV. With an appealing tag-line of 'Kab Tak Rokoge', which connects with all those who dream big and its lucrative jackpot prize, the show is all set to grab nationwide telly-attention. Hallowed 'Shahenshah' Amitabh Bachchan returns to host the tenth season. ADC had the opportunity to interact with the articulate, erudite, benevolent yet modest mega-star. Excerpts:

Your current take on the 'KBC' game show Season 10 after having hosted almost all the previous shows over past 18 years?
KBC on Sony celebrates the dreams and aspirations of the common man and their tryst with knowledge. The current tag-line 'Kab Tak Rokoge' celebrates the spirit of resilience in people. Every single participant – past, present and future – at some point in their lives, have persevered to make a dream come true. The campaign evokes the emotions of every KBC aspirant. This show has been a great life-changer for me as well, and I have no qualms admitting it. 'KBC' has always been close to my heart and it's a humbling honour to host its tenth edition.

You seem to be so sentimentally attached to this la-jawaab show...
That's so true. Thanks to this show, I have also been able to personally interact with so many extraordinary Indians about whom I had only seen or heard through the news-media. Somehow I have always felt a sentimental caring empathy towards all the contestants, especially those on the 'hot seat', as if they were my personal guests. When I hear their disheartening personal background stories, their distressed circumstances, I have always felt emotionally disturbed. We always advice and encourage every 'hot seat' contestant towards trying to fulfill his aspirations. At times, I even feel like spending the entire night on the 'KBC' sets, after a long hectic day of shooting.

What are the new major changes 'KBC-10' has to offer?
The show will be bursting with new lifelines, thrilling gamification and an array of technological advancements. This year, I am told, that the show received the highest ever, record-breaking registrations of over 31 million within a span of 15 days. With the participants trying to crack the 'Fastest-Fingers-First' to get to the 'hot seat', this year, the show promises to be a visual delight for the viewers with the well-integrated use of Augmented Reality (AR) making television viewing a truly phenomenal experience. While '50:50', 'Audience Poll' and 'Jodidaar' – the much-appreciated lifelines – have been retained, this year will see the return of the 'Ask The Expert' lifeline, wherein one expert will be available to the contestant via video call link. Also, for the first time in the history of the show, audio-visual questions on varied subjects ranging from sports to politics have been included in the format.

Like in the previous season, no filmy heroes and heroines will be seen on 'KBC', as participants promoting their upcoming movies, this time?
That's right. It has been jointly decided by the Sony Channel, helmed by N.P. Singh and Danish Khan, and the creative team headed by quiz-wizard Siddhartha Basu, that in keeping with the integrity of the show, only 'real-life-heroes or heroines' will be invited in special weekly episodes. Every Friday, the show will host 'KBC Karamveer' – those individuals whose heroic actions and good deeds have brought about a positive radical change in society, thereby making them an inspiration for many.

The ‘ KBC’ show owes its immense popularity mainly to your superstar charisma. your chivalry and your empathy towards the contestants.....
On the contrary I feel , it’s the format, the content, the vibrant contestants which make the show so phenomenal. I am just the proactive catalyst quiz-master who hardly has any general knowledge(smiles).

Your benevolence towards noble and worthy causes is commendable and exemplary.. …
Given a choice I would religiously refrain from speaking about one’s own charitable deeds. Yes, I have been contributing towards the welfare of the families of martyred soldiers, settling the loans of debt-ridden farmers who are prone to suicide and currently helping those adversely affected by the devastating floods in Kerala. Besides, I am also involved in spreading the awareness of prevention of  dreaded diseases like polio and TB.
