With the crowning glory of the ‘Dangal’ movie mega-success behind her (she played Aamir Khan’s wife and screen-mother of  tough wrestling champs daughters),  charming actress Sakshi Tanwar  is now back in showbiz. This time the versatile TV superstar Sakshi has donned the robes of a ‘kitchen queen’ hostess in this weekly (every Monday at 8:00 pm) ongoing TV show titled ‘Tyohaar Ki Thali’, on the Epic Channel. On the show, Sakshi is seen preparing and cooking delicious foods related to various important cultural and religious Indian festivals of  major communities.

“This reality festival-centric recipes show was a God-sent opportunity. Because in real-life too, I have indulged in cooking at home. And I have even had minor cuts, burns and scalds on my fingers. In this unique show I celebrate one festival a week and along with the celebrations, I also prepare two dishes from my Mom’s recipe  diary which is my prized possession. Along with preparing the exotic dishes  I also jog  into a ‘flash-back’ vividly recalling the personal experiences and moments of how  I celebrated some of the festivals even as I also share some folklore stories about the Gods,” smiles the slim Sakshi who is currently shooting for her next season of Ekta Kapoor’s web-series show ‘Karr Le Tu Bhi Mohabbat’.

This new food based show with 26 episodes will mainly focus on festival and specific food related to it. The tag line of the popular show is ‘Tyohaar jab aayein, kuchch special banaayein’. The first episode of the show was dedicated to  Ganesh Chaturthi where Sakshi had  demonstrated to her fans and home-viewers on ‘do-it-yourself’ ‘bhog aur prasaad’ sweets recipe of  preparing modak laddus and also shared little known stories behind the  vibrant festival.  ‘Perfectionist’  Sakshi has no hang-ups in frankly admitting that initially she could not get the perfect shape of the modak, as she tried to mould the batter with her dainty fingers but finally she did it.

Commenting on the show telecast, the versatile actress known for her riveting roles in TV daily soaps such  as ‘Kahaani Ghar Ghar Ki’ and  ‘Bade Achhe Lagte Hain’ says, “The Epic Channel has started the telecast of this show to perfectly coincide with the current festive season and we are getting an overwhelming response.”.

Interestingly, this show has no male ‘Chef’ tutoring and prompting Sakshi on the applied nutrition. But in select episodes a popular TV celeb who also shares a warm, friendly rapport with her will be joining Sakshi. “Like for the Idd Mubarak festival, we invited my good friend Ali Asgar and in yet another upcoming episode my buddy Kavita Kaushik will be sharing screen-space with me. It’s so much fun and a great learning experience,” enthuses Sakshi who is confident that this ‘yaadon aur swaadon’ ka show will endear her to the masses. “Woh kehte hain na, that’ the easy way to a man’s and a fan’s heart is thru their stomachs,” she signs off  with a smile.
