Dear Grace,
My best friend has been single for the last five years and while I love her to pieces, I’m finding it increasingly hard to listen to her whine about men all the time. She’s become cynical and judgmental about all the men she meets, branding them as cheats. The problem is that I think I’ve found the perfect guy for her but I’m scared she’s going to chase him away with her bad attitude if I set them up on a date. How do I go about this?

Dear Christine,
The solution here is that you don’t set them up on a date! The best way to get them to meet is by having a casual get-together with no expectations because it seems that as soon as you tell your friend it’s a “date” she’s going to start ranting. A small and intimate dinner party is a great setting to get to know someone. However, it seems that you need to have a chat with your friend beforehand to let her know what conversation topics (just tell her that you’re giving advice in general) are acceptable and which she should save for a girls night out. All the best!
