The festive season is upon us, and Aakriti Patni puts together a few looks to make you dazzle at year-end parties

The end of the year is always a happy time and there is an indescribable magic in the air. Whether it’s the excitement of the festive season or the relief of having got through yet another year, there’s something powerful about the last month of the year. And, as the Christmas cheer engulfs us and we make elaborate plans for New Year’s Eve parties, we hope to end the year with an impeccable fashionable flair as we don on the latest styles. But, despite our best efforts, we all struggle to put together stylish outfits. An office party, a Christmas brunch or a New Year’s Eve party — we imagine ourselves dressed to our nines, but we end up spending hours trying to match outfits without success. This year we’re bringing you an end-of-the-year gift — our festive look book. Four consolidated looks for different events; it’s time to get stylish!

Sequined evenings

The quintessential party look, sequined dresses are the latest trend. You will be effortlessly elegant yet chic in this darkened turquoise shimmering dress if you pair it with glittering heels and a quaint clutch. It’s perfect for New Year’s Eve parties or even cocktail parties you may have to attend this wedding season.
Short sequin dress: Zara, Rs 3,990

Rhinestone-embellished pointed pumps: Forever 21, Rs 2,260

Black glitter stud earrings: Etsy, Rs 775

Half and half clutch: Dorothy Perkins on Jabong, Rs 2,000

Suiting up

It isn’t just Barney Stinson who suits up. It’s time to be professionally stylish at your office parties or formal events with this sophisticated jumpsuit, as we bring together the latest colours of the season — burgundy and rose gold in this outfit.
Off-shoulder jumpsuit: Adelyn Rae on Nordstrom, Rs 6,843
Rose gold cross strap heels Dune, Rs 6,419
Quilted velvet clutch: Massimo Dutti, Rs 4,305
Hooped earrings: Aldo, Rs 517

Shades of gold & black

The metallic trend has truly taken over, from makeup to clothes and even accessories. Trendy and shimmery, the shades of gold and black pair well to create the perfect outfit for a fun Christmas party. Opt for this look if you want to capture a feminine yet modern vibe this season.
Gold pleated skirt: Lulu & Sky, Rs 4,000

Lace blouse: H&M, Rs 1,299

Nadia pearl & stud cross-body bag: Forever New, Rs 3,400

Textured peep-toe sandals: Charles & Keith, Rs 6,499

Back to basics

Go old-school and simple with this look, which is perfect for evening parties and formal events. With the bold red of the one-shoulder top, the faux leather pants and the sky-high heels, it’s the ideal look for those who don’t want to experiment with new styles, but yet retain that oomph factor.
One-shoulder tiered top: ASOS, Rs 2,150

Faux leather skinny trousers: River Island, Rs 3,445

Gold matte geometric earrings: TheLabelLife, Rs 1,940

Kaiden stilettos: Steve Madden, Rs 10,999

Insta-inspired

Who doesn’t love drooling over celebrity looks and outfits? And, if you’re in the mood to fashion your outfit after your favourite celebrity, we bring you some of our favourite celebrity looks from recent times.

Dressed to the whites

A vision in white, Gigi Hadid is the symbol of sophistication and style. In a trendy white pantsuit with beige loafer mules, Gigi’s outfit is one that we would love to emulate.

Layer upon layer

India’s style icon, Bollywood celebrity Sonam Kapoor, effortlessly pulls off the layered look and ensures us that chic sweaters and graphic jackets can be worn even in the not so cold weather. We love her colourful yet classic outfit.

The blackened style

This isn’t the usual little black dress that you see many celebrities sporting. Priyanka Chopra stuns in a black turtleneck midi dress with strappy block heels, a look that’s perfect for house parties and casual lunches. And we couldn’t be happier, especially since it’s an easy look to imitate.
