Cook with less oil

In western countries, cooking spray is commonly used to reduce the amount of oil that is required in the pan. In India, though our food is rich in oil, such products have been difficult to acquire and are usually imported. Now, Nagpur based LB Consumer Goods Pvt. Ltd has relaunched its Ray Cooking Spray’, offering optimum oil through a spray nozzle.

While the earlier version contained propellants and emulsifiers, this time all preservatives have been removed so that the customer gets pure refined oil, the company says. The nozzle design has also been revamped, making it leak-proof and unmovable, and the tin can has been replaced with a food grade aluminum can; the company also says that this is the first time in India clean aerosol technology is being used without gases or propellants.

Each can of Ray Cooking Spray (200 ml) equals 2.4 litres of regular cooking oil, making it possible to reduce oil consumption by 10 times and fat content up to 80%. The thick, viscous oil, is broken into a fine mist to cover the pan and one spray does the same job that a pat of butter or one or two tablespoons of oil would do.

The spray is available in four variants—Rice Bran (Rs250), Olive (Rs495), Groundnut (Rs300) and Sunflower (Rs250). The product is available in several cities and on all leading e-commerce platforms.

Make pop corn

Hot pop corn in the rain is always a good idea and you can make it with the Prestige Pop Corn Maker with regular corn. The transparent lid with holes at the top allows one to watch the popping process and add butter to the corn; it can also be used as a serving bowl. The product also has an easy to use on/off button (Rs 2,215).
