4,000-yr-old characters found on pottery piece in China
Archaeologists in north China have discovered characters on a pottery piece which they believe are 4,000-year-old, even older than the oracle bones scripts. The pottery piece, with ink marks which were confirmed to be three or four characters, was unearthed at Gaojiataizi, the ruins of the Lower Xiajiadian Culture in the city of Chifeng.

A disgruntled knife-wielding man, yesterday, went on a stabbing spree at a busy shopping mall in downtown Beijing, killing a woman and injuring 12 others, police said. The attack happened around 1 pm at Joy City in the commercial area of Xidan, Xicheng District, police said.

20 militants arrested in raids in Pakistan
Twenty militants were arrested yesterday by paramilitary Frontier Corps in an intelligence-based military operation in Pakistan's Balochistan province. Army said that a cache of arms and ammunition, including RPG rockets, sub machine guns and sniper rifle ammunition, laptops and communication equipment were also recovered.

Flurry of UK Govt speeches to detail Brexit 'road map'
Prime Minister Theresa May and senior Cabinet ministers will set out "Britain's road map to Brexit" in a series of keynote speeches over the coming weeks, Downing Street said yesterday. The addresses will culminate in a speech by May outlining the government's ambitions for a future partnership with the European Union after the country's departure from the bloc in March, 2019.
