Zonta Club of Bombay III joined hands with Save the Children India, an NGO which is committed to preventing exploitation and discrimination of vulnerable women & children and empowering them to lead a life of dignity, self respect & independence and celebrated 16 Days of Activism, starting from 25 November, 2017 International Day for Elimination of Violence against Women, to 10 December, 2017 Human Rights Day.
More than 150 girls living in vulnerable and exploitative conditions were provided inputs on various issues related to Gender and Gender Based Violence. These events included screening of women led films followed by discussion, drawing and poster making competitions at community centers and rallies to create awareness on gender issues.
The event culminated at the head office of Save The Children India with daylong session on providing conceptual clarity in gender, difference between sex and gender, gender based violence and international initiatives for elimination of gender based violence. The entire event was an enriching experience for all the participants.
