He had bunked lectures to go for a swim at this popular one-day holiday spot near Vasai

Nearly 24 hours after a young collegian drowned at Pelhar Dam near Vasai, fire brigade personnel from the local civic body recovered the body on Thursday afternoon. A resident of Nalasopara, the deceased, identified as Ankush Ramesh Harode (18), was a student of a junior college in Nalasopara.

Ankush had reportedly bunked lectures to go for a swim at the dam on Wednesday. While his clothes were recovered by local villagers the same day, his body was fished out on Thursday afternoon, police said. Investigations revealed that Ankush's family members were not aware about his visit to the dam and got the information only after the incident occurred. While a case of accidental death has been registered in this connection at the Valiv police station, the body has been sent for a post-mortem examination.
