Adv Abha Singh had approached the Child Commission board in July 2012 as no FIR was filed against the actor in the Wankhede Stadium brawl issue
The 2012 Wankhede Stadium brawl issue came into light once again on Friday when the Child Commission directed Mumbai Police to file an FIR against film star, Shahrukh Khan. The commission directed the police to file the FIR under IPC sections and under Juvenile Justice (Care & Protection) Act, 2006. As per advocate Abha Singh the commission also ordered an inquiry for not registering FIR in this matter.
On May 16, 2012, the actor got involved in a tiff with the security officials after his Indian Premier League (IPL) team Kolkata Night Riders (KKR) won a match against the Mumbai Indians (MI). Khan was accused of manhandling police officers, he was also said to be drunk and abusive in front of kids. As a result the superstar was banned from entering the stadium for five years.
Advocate Abha Singh approached the Child Commission in July 2012. The matter was heard for almost three years. On Friday the commission passed an order directing the Mumbai police to file an FIR against Khan. Singh told the ADC, “Yes, the Child Commission has directed the police to file an FIR. Shahrukh Khan was drunk and used foul language in front of kids, it attracts six months of imprisonment under section 23 of Juvenile Justice (Care & Protection) Act, 2006. Khan also misbehaved with the police officers which again is a punishable offence.”
She further added, “The best part of the order is the inquiry ordered by the commission for not registering the FIR. I believe that this is a slap on the face of the Mumbai Police. Does the police have two sets of laws, one for the common man and the other one for the celebrities? Why the law was violated in this case? Why the FIR wasn't filed?”
Social activist Amit Maru approached the Commission; he also produced script of audio recording and news reports regarding the brawl and usage of foul language by the actor in front of children who at that time were under his care and custody.
