On Thursday, Indian Motions Picture Producers' Association (IMPPA) vice-president Sushma Shiromani filed complaint with Khar police station alleging that she received a death threat from gangster Ravi Pujari, warning her against contesting for the president’s post during the elections coming next month, on September 28.
Talking to media outside the Khar police station, Shiromani claimed that "I received a phone call on Thursday morning from a man who introduced himself Ravi Pujari and warned me not to contest for the post of IMPAA President and he also offered me Rs.50 lakh and Rs.4 crore for not contesting it, otherwise the consequences would be dire.”
Shiromani also claimed that this was the second call in the last ten days. I had not taken the first call seriously. Shiromani also confirmed that she would contest the election inspite of the threat calls.
According to Mangesh Pote, senior police inspector of the Khar police station, “We have taken note of the complaint and investigations have begun. If required, we will lodge an FIR."
In her application, Shiromani alleged, "In the phone call, Pujari told me that if Agrawal remains as the president of the IMPPA, it is going to benefit him. Agarwal is equally responsible for the threats I have received."
