The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) invites bids for the Metro line 6 on behalf of MMRDA
The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), who has been made in charge of the Metro line 6, will be issuing work orders by February 2018. The MMRDA has proposed to start the construction work of the metro corridor by April 2018. The DMRC will be implementing the Metro line 6 project on behalf of the MMRDA.
The 14.47-metre-long Metro 6 corridor will have 13 stations, Swami Samarth Nagar, Adarsh Nagar, JVLR, Shyam Nagar, Mahakali Caves, Seepz village, Saki Vihar Road, Ram Baug, Powai Lake, IIT Powai, Kanjurmarg and Vikhroli Western Express Highway.
The DMRC has invited bids for the work and construction of the three elevated stations – Swami Samarth Nagar, JVLR-SEEPZ, Jogeshwari-Kanjurmarg – on the corridor.
“We shall start the construction of the Metro line 6 by April, next year. This is one of the fastest metros we are building,” said a senior MMRDA official.
After the Metro 1 (Ghatkopar to Versova) construction in 2014, the Metro 3 (Colaba-Bandra-Seepz) construction is currently in progress. Work orders for Metro 5 (Thane-Bhiwandi-Kalyan) will also be issued by June 2018. The MMRDA has also submitted the government cabinet approval for the Metro line 9 (Dahisar to Mira Road).
According to MMRDA sources, operation of the Metro line 6 will start by 2022.
