
The Mumbai City Crime Branch Unit IX recently arrested two men for carrying one country-made pistols and three cartridges at Bandra.
According to Assistant Police Inspector (API) Irfan Shaikh, the officer of Crime Branch Unit IX, the accused was identified as Malhesh Gounda (31) and Vishnu Hiwale (35), one pistols and three live cartridges recover from him. Sub-Inspector, Walmiki Kore got the information about a two men arriving at Bandra at around 2pm with one pistols and three live cartridges,
Assistant Commissioner Of Police (Crime Branch) Rane said, “We formed a two special police team under the supervision senior inspector of Unit-IX, Mahesh Desai, police inspector (PI) Asha korke, PI Arun Sawant, API irfan Shaikh, API Sudhir Jadhav, API Sharad Gharade, PSI Walmiki Kore, PSI Vijayendra Ambawne. The police team laid a trap and was nabbed on their arrival.”
The whole operation was carried out under the supervision of DCP (crime) Akbar Pathan,
“We are investigating to find out the source from where accused procured the weapon and whether he was in touch with dealers of such country-made revolvers. We are also trying to ascertain what was the purpose of their visit,” said Akbar Pathan, DCP Crime Branch Mumbai.
