Perhaps the tournament-defining episode of the IPL, so far, came last week from Kolkata Knight Riders’ (KKR) batsman Andre Russell. The hitter, as most would know, blasted his way to an unbeaten 48 runs off just 13 balls in the match against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). In the process, Andre won the match for his team with five balls to spare. The cricketer’s 13-ball blitz included one four and seven mesmerising sixes. For cricket watchers around the nation, especially KKR fans, it was a veritable feast of power-cricket by the West Indian, who is defined as much by his mohawk hairstyle as by his proclivity to steamroll the opposition. While losing team captain Virat Kohli of the RCB subsequently lost his cool with the team’s bowlers defining their performance as “unacceptable” KKR co-owner Shah Rukh Khan went into raptures on social media about Andre’s performance. Posting a morphed image of the cricketer in ‘Baahubali’ costume SRK added in another post “Wow you champion! This calls for wine my MuscleMan!” The official Twitter handle for the film ‘Baahubali’, in the meantime, replied to SRK’s post, congratulating KKR on their amazing win. And industrialist Anand Mahindra wrote: “Ok. I am going to keep a recording of these last 13 balls. And every time I begin to worry about no hope being left—whether in business or personal life — I’m going to fish out this video and play it on a loop. It’s never over unless you believe it is...”
