Raell Padamsee’s Ace Productions will be putting up a performance of ‘The Best of Alyque’, an evening of entertainment dedicated to the most loved theatrical pieces of late doyen Alyque Padamsee. Starring Shabana Azmi, Shiamak Davar, Gerson Da Cunha, Sabira Merchant, Sharon Prabhakar, Dolly Thakore, Farrokh Mehta, Karla Singh, Marianne D'Cruz Aiman, Delna Mody, Devieka Bhojwani, among others, the evening will feature excepts from musicals and plays that have spanned several decades in the theatrical history of our city. Shabana Azmi will perform a scene from the play ‘Broken Images’, Shiamak Davar will perform a song from ‘Kabaret’, Sabira Merchant will play out a scene from ‘A Streetcar Named Desire’, Sharon Prabhakar will sing a number from ‘Evita’, Marianne D’Cruz Aiman will sing ‘Amazing Grace’ and Devieka Bhojani will sing a song from ‘Jesus Christ Superstar’ among many other performers. The day also happens to be Alyque’s birthday and we would not be surprised if a party atmosphere were to prevail in the auditorium. Says daughter Raell Padamsee: “"It really is so special putting all this together, trying to understand Dad's vision on each and every one of his productions...engaging and interacting with all his friends and actors/people I've grown up with. Very connecting, hugely inspiring!” The show is scheduled to take place on 5 March, 6.30pm at the Royal Opera House. A must for theatre buffs!
