IS India ruling Kashmir? There is no sign of it. There is more freedom in Kashmir than in the rest of India.
There is an Indian army presence in Kashmir. The army is hardly used. The army ensures the safety of all citizens. The army ensures there is peace in Kashmir always. Despite provocation by stone throwers, the army promotes peace. There are innocent, law-abiding citizens who would like to be left alone by foreigners.
Despite their increasing activity in Kashmir, Pakistan has been kept under control. The number of disguised Pakistanis is increasing in Kashmir. It is this disguised Pakistani menace, that an army presence becomes necessary. Pakistan's effort to seize Kashmir continues. In more ways than one,
Kashmir belongs to India. The last Maharaja of Kashmir, Hari Singh left it to India and stayed on Peddar Road, Mumbai. Most leaders of Kashmir were at total peace with the Indian government. There are some other pro-Pakistani elements which are spreading violence. We are hearing about their encounters with Indian forces. Such instances of violence are depriving Kashmir of good revenue. Tourists do not want to go to any place where there is violence. When the British were in India, one of the revenues they were depending on was tourism. And Kashmir got big money through tourism. One hopes and waits for the return of those total peaceful days and flourishing tourism. and India must make an effort to get a declaration from all Kashmiri leaders all is well with Kashmir.
