THANKS to the diplomatic move of the Indian government, China is having no problem with us. The problems between the two countries have not yet been solved but we do not have to face an aggressive posture of the Chinese. The territorial claims of the Chinese are not acceptable to us but China appears ready to wait and negotiate. There was a time when we faced a threat from the China and it was during this time we sought the friendship of the US. We got the help of the US but it asked for concessions in trade. The US got the concessions and in return, India got a quarter of the goods sent to the US duty free. The US has now cancelled this duty arrangements. This will work against India. This is not the kind of arrangements made between two countries. Donald Trump is apparently dissatisfied with arrangements with India. India's new policy has apparently provoked him to take up a new line.
India in the meanwhile must have made new arrangements with China. India does not want any dispute to exist between two leaders of two countries who share a long border. It would seem Narendra Modi has been able to come closer to China and achieve an understanding. India is against resorting to violence between the two countries. Territorial disputes between the two countries which have the same border is desirable. India does not want to have any dispute with China. The two countries with the same border should be able to resolve any dispute by resorting to peaceful negotiations.
And as lose border neighbours, we can fare better from trade with China.
