THE government of BJP's Narendra Modi began with a bang. Modi's man began announcing various decisions and allotted work in a jiffy. It looked like the government had started work quite early. One by one the items of work were announced. Not a day was lost. The government began in right earnest. It was clear various ministers had started work even before the actual beginning of the government. This is the kind of arrangement only Narendra Modi can do. India is fortunate it has the high calibre system of a government. As we go on, the situation is certain to become better. The first thing he did was to extend financial help to farmers - as he had promised to farmers before the elections. Evidently, the farmers did not expect the promised aid to be paid so promptly. It must have been a good, happy surprise to them. That is what happened in cases where Modi has promised. He kept up every promise - and promptly.
Politicians are good at making promises before the elections, they make promises - even those promises which they know that they cannot keep. A few of them take effort to make impressive promises and forget all about it. For instance, farmers have heard of many promises from politicians but to their great disappointment, rarely have they heard about it.
For once, a politician kept a big promise, farmers have become close, permanent friends of the prime minister. They will stay with the prime minister for the next five years but also for quite a few more years later on. The BJP has become the pride and party of quite large sections of people.
