Ranveer Shorey is a popular face in Hindi cinema, English Theatre and television. He gained popularity after being a part of films like Chandni Chowk To China, Traffic Signal, Singh is King etc. Now after a long wait his new film Life Ki Toh Lag Gayi is ready for release. He speaks about the prospects of the film:
The title is quiet interesting. Comment please.
You will have to see the film and then the title will be a revelation. It’s a satirical and a little bit of farcical comedy. It’s a gangster comedy which is quite a new genre in Hindi cinema.
What is the storyboard of the film?
The film has four different tracks and how in the climax of the film they get intertwined together forms the gist of the film. I play a Bengali NRI who comes to India and gets caught up in a situation in his one day stay in India .How four friends survive on the mean streets of the city is the basic story of the film.
How was it like working with the ensemble cast?
It was great to work with an experienced actor like Manu Rishi and a new girl called Neha Bhasin who plays a struggling actor. The director Rakesh Mehta himself is new but he was very clear and focused in his mind as to what he wanted. Kay Kay Menon is an excellent actor and Praduman Singh who plays my friend is going to be definitely the ‘it’ element of the film.
A lot of your films have been delayed.
Films like FATSO, I am 24, and Bangkok Blues are done with their principal shooting but the producers of the film are just not ready to release the films.
What are your future projects?
I have a film coming up called Hari Gaur Daastan directed by Anant Mahadevan where Vinay Pathak plays the title role and I play his friend. There is Deepa Mehta’s Winds of Change also.
And theatre?
Recently my play Blue Mug was quite appreciated.
Would you like to be a producer like your father K.D. Shorey?
I don’t have the qualities required to be a producer and I am happy to be an actor.
How has marriage been for you?
Konkana Sen Sharma is the best girl I could have got and I have a successful marriage and children.
Trust Ranvir to be a success in what he does!
