
The cold spell experienced by Mumbaikars recently has already passed into memory, with the city witnessing a sharp increase in day temperatures. According to the meteorological department, yesterday, February 21 was the hottest day of the month in the last ten years. According to the weather bureau, the maximum temperature recorded in Mumbai on Tuesday was 39.1 degrees Celsius. In 1936, the city had recorded a temperature of 39.6 degree Celsius in the month of February.
In a span of a fortnight, Mumbai has witnessed its hottest and coldest day in the month of February. On Thursday, February 9, the city recorded its lowest temperature at 14.2 degree Celsius, the lowest temperature in February in the last three years.
In the coming days, the weather bureau has stated that the day time temperatures are likely to go up further as the city is experiencing a transition period with the Sun moving towards the Northern Hemisphere. The city will experience hotter weather in the coming days, unless a cold wave is experienced in the Northern part of the country yet again.
Yesterday, a minimum temperature of 18 degree Celsius was recorded in the city. The weather department has predicted that the minimum temperatures are likely to range from 18 to 20 degree Celsius till the end of the week.
