Narayan Rane angling for MLC seat

30 MLC seats to fall vacant till end of 2016

Having made unsuccessful attempts to get back into the Legislative Assembly in the Bandra East assembly by-election in April earlier this year following his stunning defeat in the October 2014 assembly elections, senior Congress leader Narayan Rane is reported to be keen on contesting one of the two
Mumbai Local Authorities constituency seats that are due to fall vacant on January 1, 2016. However, beginning from December 2015 to July 2016, 30 Legislative Council seats are falling vacant. Out of these 18 seats will fall vacant between December 5, 2015 to January 1, 2016.

The Election Commission of India (ECI) election branch here has already notified summary revision of electoral rolls for Amravati, Nashik Graduates Division constituencies and Aurangabad, Konkan and Nagpur Division Teachers constituencies that are due to fall vacant onDecember 5.

Besides these fiveMLC seats, six other MLC seats are also falling vacant on December 5. These include – Sangli-Satara Local Authorities, Bhandara- Gondia Local Authorities, Yavatmal Local Authorities, Pune Local Authorities, Nanded Local Authorities and Jalgaon Local Authorities.

The partywise break-up of legislative council members retiring on December 5 are – Vikram Kale (Aurangabad Teachers), Prabhakar Gharge (Sangli-Satara Local Authorities), Rajendra Jain (Bhandara- Gondia Local Authorities), Sandip Bajoria (Yavatmal Local Authorities), Anil Bhosale (Pune Local Authorities) – allNCP,Dr Sudhir Tambe (Nashik Graduates) and Amarnath Rajurkar (Nanded Local Authorities) – both Congress, Gurmukh Das Jagwani (Jalgaon Local Authorities) and Minister of State for Home, Dr Ranjit Patil (Amravati Graduates) – both BJP, Nago Ganar (Nagpur Teachers) and Ramnath Mote (Konkan Teachers) – both Independents.

The partywise breakup of eightmoreMLCs who are retiring on January 1, 2016 is as follows – Deepak Salunkhe, Solapur Local Authorities (NCP), Ashok alias Bhai Jagtap, Mumbai Local Authorities, Amrishbhai Patel (Dhule-Nandurbar Local Authorities), Mahadevrao Mahadik (Kolhapur Local Authorities) and Rajendra Mulak (Nagpur Local Authorities) – all Congress,Minister for Environment, Ramdas Kadam (Mumbai Local Authorities) and Gopikisan Bajoria (Akola- Washim- Buldhana Local Authorities.
